Valentina Di Giacomo – Communications Assistant
Valentina has long been interested in sustainability, choosing to study a Bachelor of Energy Engineering at the University of Rome La Sapienza to better understand renewable energies. She finalised her studies with an internship and bachelor thesis on microbial fuel cells – innovative devices which use bacteria to turn organic waste material into bioelectricity.
During her studies, Valentina volunteered in Rome for Italian NGO Emergency, which provides medical care for victims of war. She helped to organise charity events to raise funds and increase awareness of the NGO’s activities among students and children. Working with a group of people willing to dedicate their time to support others inspired her to do what she can to help make a better world.
After a gap year in Berlin spent improving her German skills, Valentina decided to adventure to the land of delicious chocolate. She is currently enrolled in a Master’s Degree in International Business and Management at the KU Leuven University in Belgium.
A vegetarian and animal-lover, she is an avid reader of Russian novels (the more pages, the better!). She loves music, especially singing in the shower and playing her acoustic guitar. Keen to live a sustainable lifestyle, you can find Valentina car sharing or exploring local markets and second-hand shops.
